Simple jQuery accordion navigation for WordPress

on January 16th, 2012 by Richard Orelup in Development - jQuery - Wordpress

Fortunately at my primary job I was able to get buy-in on my proposal to finally move off of the our current horrific CMS (here is my full write-up on all of my complaints about Hannon Hill’s Cascade Server) and move everything to WordPress. It’s going to be an amazing example of the power of WordPress and how it can really makes things a lot simpler for everyone involved with the backend all the way to the end users. I’ll definitely put up a post about the benefits and everything...Read More!

Floating main nav with the Headway WordPress theme

on November 22nd, 2010 by Richard Orelup in Development - General - Wordpress

Recently I saw a tweet announcing an updated look to the website What Spinks Thinks and when I checked it out I noticed an issue with the navigation. You can see it in the screenshot below. As you can see the last link has wrapped around below the rest. I looked and was seeing the issue on Linux/Windows in FF/Chrome/IE which I thought it was funny that it hadn’t been noticed yet. When using the wp_list_pages() function to generate your navigation it will add a class of “current_page_item” to the current page in that list. As well when you are on a child of...Read More!

on January 3rd, 2010 by Richard Orelup in Development - Wordpress

This article has been moved from it’s original spot on the Mu Studios website, so if it looks familiar you know why. So I logged into my admin today to start work on my first real blog post and I happen to see an article listed about a new distributed attack against WordPress. The story listed linked to this article about the attack. After seeing that it was just a brute force attack I was relieved because it wasn’t anything to scary. Read More!
